Job summary

Forward Air Corp. seeks an experienced Forklift Operator in Los Angeles to safely load, unload, and move freight across a multimodal terminal. You will document freight, assist with dock operations, and mentor newer team members as needed.

Responsibilities include operating sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE, maintaining accuracy in scanning and labeling, and adhering to OSHA and PPE standards in a noisy dock environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, to understand safety and operational instructions.
• Ability to recognize numbers, labels, barcodes, and freight markings accurately and perform basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors, trailers, and warehouse areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervisors.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and equipment.
• Support dock productivity and workflow efficiency.
• Work schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
