Job summary

Forward Air Corp. in Compton, CA is seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, and move freight in a multimodal terminal or warehouse environment. You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and related equipment, document cargo, and help maintain dock productivity.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years dock/warehouse experience, forklift certification, and strong safety mindset. You will work with teams on pushing freight efficiently while adhering to OSHA and PPE standards

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Valid forklift certification/licensure required or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
Ability to communicate effectively in English.
Excellent safety record and PPE compliance.

Responsibilities

Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors, trailers, and designated areas.
Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping.
Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
Label, scan, and track freight using handheld devices and company systems.
Identify damaged freight and report safety or equipment issues.
Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and follow procedures.
Support dock productivity and on-time delivery objectives.
