Job summary

Forward Air Corporation is seeking a Freight Handler (Forklift Operator) to safely load, unload, and move freight in a multimodal terminal or warehouse setting. As an experienced team member, you will assist with mentoring and solving operational problems on the dock floor.

The role requires certified forklift operation, strong attention to safety, accurate documentation, and the ability to work extended shifts, including nights and weekends. A valid forklift certification is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure required or ability to obtain.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Must communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and verify freight counts.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload freight using forklifts and other MHE.
• Move and stage freight between docks and warehouses.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading per safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight for accuracy.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Mentor and train other Material Handlers when needed.
