Job summary

Trinity Services, Inc. is seeking a Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) to provide peer-based support to individuals experiencing mental health crises at the Living Room program in Channahon, IL.

Role emphasizes outreach, resource navigation, and personalized recovery planning, with a focus on empowerment, self-care, and coping strategies. Evening shift from 10 pm to 8 am, with duties including community connection and follow-up.

Qualifications

• Lived experience as a consumer of mental health or substance use services (required).
• GED or high school diploma (required); additional education a plus.
• CRSS (Certified Recovery Support Specialist) certification REQUIRED.
• WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) certification or willingness to complete training.
• Valid driver’s license and current automobile liability insurance (including uninsured motorist coverage).
• Ability to pass all pre-employment background checks.
• Prior experience with developmentally disabled individuals is a plus.
• Teaching experience and/or experience facilitating peer groups is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate peer support to individuals in mental health crisis situations.
• Collaborate with individuals to develop a personalized recovery plan.
• Model effective coping techniques and self-care practices.
• Assist participants in identifying strengths, goals, and barriers.
• Engage in outreach and connect participants to community resources.
• Participate in trainings and meetings to improve peer support practices.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess high-risk indicators.
• Provide follow-up to ensure continuity of care.
