Job summary

The NC Department of Health and Human Services seeks a Batch Operations Technician to support daily batch processing within the NC FAST system. The role requires overnight shifts and rotation across 5 PM–1 AM, 10 PM–6 AM, and 1 AM–9 AM, with on-call responsibilities and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities include monitoring batch processes, verifying results, analyzing exceptions, and escalating issues per on-call procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience as a GMI Operator and Support specialist monitoring batch steps and responding to user queries.
• Experience with batch operations, job scheduling and monitoring tools.
• Ability to communicate issues and status updates with business users, support teams and development teams.
• Experience documenting processes and procedures as required.
• Experience with OS such as Unix, Mainframe and Windows; basic SQL knowledge.
• Experience running shell scripts in UNIX-like environments and reviewing logs.
• Experience handling priority issues and troubleshooting with clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide production operations support by executing and monitoring batch processes.
• Verify batch results and support nightly production environments across multiple servers.
• Perform first level analysis of data interface processing exceptions and logs.
• Escalate unresolved issues according to on-call procedures.
• Support batch monitoring by analyzing workflows and recommending schedule improvements.
• Provide rapid support during outages and assist in workload forecasting.
• Collaborate with design teams to ensure backup and recovery systems meet SLAs.
• Work with application support and stakeholders to define service levels and incident procedures.
