Job summary

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced NICU Registered Nurse for a part-time night role. You will provide specialized, family-centered care to critically ill neonates and collaborate with neonatologists, therapists and staff to ensure optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities include direct NICU nursing, assessments, medication administration, ventilator management, and parental education. DC RN license, BLS and NRP are required; BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• DC RN License required.
• BSN preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of recent NICU experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to premature, critically ill neonates in NICU.
• Perform comprehensive assessments and monitor neonatal conditions and responses to treatment.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and specialized treatments per orders.
• Operate and monitor neonatal equipment including ventilators, CPAP, monitors, pumps, and incubators.
• Assist with neonatal procedures such as intubation and central line placement.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition and emergencies.
• Collaborate with physicians, NNPs, therapists, and teams to coordinate care plans.
• Educate and support families regarding neonatal conditions and care.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR.
• Ensure infection control and safety standards are followed.
• Participate in quality improvement and unit-based education.
• Advocate for patients and provide compassionate, culturally competent care.
