Job summary

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for full-time nights. This role provides specialized care to critically ill patients in a high-acuity setting, coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes.

Ideal candidates will have a DC RN license, BSN preferred, and current BLS/ACLS certifications, with 3+ years in ICU or critical care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• DC RN license required.
• BSN preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience preferred.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred.
• CCRN certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and care for critically ill adult patients requiring intensive medical and nursing interventions.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and critical care treatments per physician orders.
• Operate and monitor advanced life-support equipment including ventilators and cardiac monitors.
• Recognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition, emergencies, and codes.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on patient diagnoses.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the EMR.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, procedures, medications, and discharge planning.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in bedside shift reports, rounds, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Serve as a patient advocate delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
