Job summary

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health in Washington, DC, seeks an experienced Pediatric Emergency Registered Nurse for part-time night shifts. You will provide compassionate, high‑quality emergency care to children and young adults in a fast-paced pediatric ED.

Responsibilities include triage, medications, IVs, and family education, with collaboration across physicians, respiratory therapy, and support staff. DC RN license and BLS/ACLS/PALS are required.

Qualifications

• DC RN license required.
• BSN preferred.
• Minimum of 1–2 years pediatric emergency nursing experience.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Current PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, age-appropriate nursing care to pediatric patients in emergency settings.
• Perform rapid assessments, triage patients, and prioritize care by acuity.
• Initiate emergency interventions for trauma, respiratory distress, and other urgent conditions.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and treatments per orders.
• Monitor patient condition, vital signs, pain levels, and response to treatment; document in EMR.
• Assist with procedures such as splinting, suturing, sedation, and resuscitation.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, radiology, lab, case management, and security.
