Job summary

TYLin in New York City seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead rail and transit projects, mentor junior staff, and own design components. You will deliver complex structural solutions for major clients with PMs and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring quality and on-time delivery.

You will apply expertise in steel, concrete, and masonry, comply with AREMA/AASHTO/IBC codes, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to advance mobility across the NYC metro area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil/Structural Engineering and relevant coursework.
• Demonstrated structural design experience for rail/transit facilities.
• Experience delivering designs for major transit agencies (e.g., MTA, Amtrak, LIRR).
• Strong command of steel/concrete systems; familiarity with AREMA, AASHTO, IBC.
• Proficiency with SAP2000, ETABS, RAM and BIM/CAD tools.
• New York PE license required; SE or additional licensure is a plus.
• Collaborative mindset and strong communication with PMs and teams.
• Passion for design quality and impactful infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level structural design and technical input for rail/transit facilities.
• Serve as a trusted technical resource on project teams and decisions.
• Produce and review calculations, drawings, specs, and reports to TYLin standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers, guiding career development.
• Lead structural tasks and components with PM coordination for delivery.
• Perform structural analysis and design for steel, concrete, masonry with seismic/dynamic loading where applicable.
• Support field investigations, condition assessments, and feasibility studies.
• Collaborate with architecture, civil, mechanical, electrical, systems teams.
• Engage in client coordination meetings to align with expectations and needs.
