Boston Medical Center (BMC) in Boston, MA, offers a New Graduate Nurse Residency on the Surgical Step Down (IMCU) with a 36-hour schedule across day/night rotations. The program guides newly licensed nurses through transition to practice over a 4-month orientation, followed by a role on a Step Down unit.

New grads must complete their nursing school within 12 months of hire. Active MA RN licensure, BLS/CPR, and flu vaccination are required.

Qualifications

• Registration and MA RN licensure in good standing.
• Active BLS/CPR for Healthcare Providers.
• Flu Vaccination required prior to start.
• New graduate nurses must have graduated within the twelve (12) months before hire.
• Two-year commitment for Critical Care; one-year commitment for other practice areas.

Responsibilities

• Nurses perform assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation and coordination of care for patients and families.
• Report to the Unit Nurse Director.
• Provide care on the Surgical Step Down (IMCU) unit.
