Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) invites applications for the New Graduate RN Residency in the Surgical Step Down (IMCU) unit. The program starts March 2027 and engages newly licensed nurses in a comprehensive transition-to-practice path.

Selected graduates will complete a 4-month orientation before assuming a role on a Step Down unit, with a two-year commitment for critical care tracks and one year for others.

Qualifications

• New graduates must have graduated within 12 months before hire.
• Active BLS/CPR for Healthcare Providers required.
• RN licensure in MA in good standing preferred prior to start.
• Flu vaccination required prior to start.
• New grads in Critical Care expected to remain in CC roles for 2 years; others for 1 year after orientation.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation.
• Coordinate care for patients and families across the care continuum.
• Maintain compliance with agency policies, procedures and standards of practice.
• Report to Unit Nurse Director and collaborate with the Surgical Step Down team.
