Job summary

Eight Sleep in San Francisco is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, build, and test electromechanical systems for our sleep‑fitness products. You’ll own development from concept through production, collaborating with electrical, industrial design, manufacturing and product teams.

The role is on-site in SF with an anticipated Spring 2027 start, offering fast growth and a chance to impact a high‑performance hardware platform.

Qualifications

• Experience with concept development, feasibility studies, and hands-on prototyping.
• Proficiency with 3D modeling (e.g. SolidWorks, NX, Creo, etc.). Bonus points for simulation experience.
• Familiarity with high volume manufacturing processes, DFM, DFA, tolerance analysis, functional dimensioning and GD&T.
• Familiarity with root cause analysis, DOE, and quality measuring techniques.
• BSME or equivalent. MS preferred.
• Willingness and ability to travel to Asia as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design, build & test complex electromechanical systems, including plastic, metal, and soft goods components integrating with novel sensors and actuators.
• Help drive designs across the entire development lifecycle, including brainstorming, CAD, prototyping, testing, and ramp into high-volume production in Asia.
• Collaborate with electrical engineering, industrial design, manufacturing, and product team members to develop products from early stage concepts to mass production.
• Perform various testing and analyses to ensure designs meet product goals, including thermal, fluid, and structural analyses.
