Scholastic Book Fairs are in-person experiences that empower kids to discover books for themselves. Taking place in schools and aligned with Scholastic’s mission to use the power of books for the betterment of all kids, Fairs bring communities together.

We organize over 110,000 pop-up shops annually, raising over 200 million dollars for schools. Our goal is to deliver inspiring experiences that promote literacy and support lifelong learning, ensuring everyone involved feels valued and welcomed.

We are looking for New Business Sales Representatives to help grow the Book Fair business by securing new opportunities. These full-time roles offer benefits including health insurance, Paid Time Off, discounts, 401k matching, and potential summers off. Compensation includes a base salary plus incentives.

The ideal candidate will meet sales targets through effective outreach and relationship-building with schools, supporting our mission and values.

Job Overview: Passionate about education and reading? Join us to help bring the joy of reading to students and educators by prospecting and building relationships with schools, expanding Scholastic Book Fairs' reach.

Primary Objectives:

  • Prospecting: Identify potential school and district partners, initiate outreach to decision-makers.
  • Lead Qualifications: Qualify prospects, set appointments, pass qualified leads to Account Managers.
  • Relationship Building: Establish rapport with educators and administrators, emphasizing the value of Scholastic events.
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate records, track progress toward goals.
  • Collaboration and Strategy: Work with the sales team to refine outreach strategies and stay informed about industry trends.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Book events within assigned territories and identify alternative opportunities through grants and partnerships.
  • Coordinate activities with event partners, maintain records, and support customer satisfaction.

Customer Focus:

  • Develop relationships, understand customer needs, and deliver value.
  • Build rapport, handle feedback, and ensure exceptional customer experiences.

Teamwork:

  • Partner with operational teams, foster collaboration, and contribute to process improvements.

Functional Expertise/Personal Effectiveness:

  • Support our mission, stay current with sales technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related fields.
  • At least three years of successful sales experience, especially in retail or territory sales.
