Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2 years of medical clerical experience; preferably in hospital central scheduling or physician office scheduling.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of payor contract terms and processes.
• Excellent organizational skills, as well as effective human relations and communication skills.
• Effective teamwork and ability to meet deadlines and productivity standards.
• Ability to use word processing and spreadsheet software and computerized scheduling systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates case times for elective, urgent or emergent surgeries in a computerized scheduling system.
• Acquires authorizations numbers, History and Physicals, review results and ensures current information.
• Types and prints physician orders; schedules and maintains block time.
• Enters physician orders for lab, imaging, and cardiology; compiles data for reports.
• Conducts charge management audits and reconciles charges.
• Acts as a receptionist for the unit; answers calls and directs patients and visitors.
• Enters work orders and coordinates repairs for department equipment.
• Maintains smooth workflow and can work with minimal supervision under pressure.
