Job summary

Banner Health in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Surgery Scheduler for the Neurosurgery Clinic. You will coordinate elective, urgent, and emergent surgeries using a computerized scheduling system and support clinic workflow and patient access.

The role includes entering patient charges and orders, maintaining confidentiality, and assisting physicians, staff, patients and families while travel between clinic sites as needed. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years medical clerical experience preferred, hospital central scheduling or physician office scheduling is a plus.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Knowledge of payor contract terms and processes.
• Excellent organizational, communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software; ability to use scheduling systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate case times for elective, urgent or emergent surgeries in a computerized scheduling system.
• Verify and review physician privilege status prior to scheduling.
• Acquire authorization numbers and relevant records; obtain History and Physicals as needed.
• Enter physician orders for labs, imaging, and cardiology; enter patient charges.
• Schedule and maintain physician block time and releases; print and manage orders.
• Act as receptionist for the unit: answer phones, greet patients and families, relay messages, and coordinate with staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and support a smooth workflow with minimal supervision; travel between clinic sites as needed.
