Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is seeking an entry-level Neuromuscular Testing Technologist I in Chicago. You will assist with Autonomic Testing, EMG, and Nerve Conduction studies under supervision, learning to set up tests, educate patients, and ensure safety.

Collaboration with Neurodiagnostic team and Allied Health staff is essential to meet departmental goals. The role trains you to perform autonomic testing and EMG/NCS, with direct supervision during training and indirect supervision once

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • GPA of at least 2.8 or higher preferred (Biology/Physics/Algebra focus).
  • Current Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Enrollment in, or graduate of, a CAAHEP CoA-NDT program, or an associate’s degree from an accredited college preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with patients and staff.
  • Knowledge of neuroanatomy and physiology.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare room and equipment for autonomic testing procedures.
  • Handle equipment setup, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform Autonomic Reflex Screen, EMG, and NCS under supervision.
  • Maintain patient safety and follow HIPAA guidelines.
  • Educate patients on test procedures and implications.
