Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is seeking an entry-level Neuromuscular Testing Technologist I to support autonomic testing, EMG and NCS under supervision. The role emphasizes patient education, safety, and collaboration with the Neurodiagnostic team.

You will train across autonomic testing procedures, room preparation, and equipment handling, progressing to indirect supervision as competencies are achieved, in a dynamic clinical setting.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • GPA of at least 2.8 or higher with biology, chemistry, physics, algebra I and II preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Enrollment in or graduate of a CAAHEP/CoA-NDT program or an associate’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent communication with patients, staff, and physicians.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to perform Autonomic Reflex Screen, EMG, and Nerve Conduction studies under supervision.
  • Prepare room and equipment for autonomic testing.
  • Handle instrumentation, artifact recognition, and troubleshooting.
  • Educate patients about tests, allergies, movement restrictions, and cognitive function.
  • Maintain patient safety at all times and follow HIPAA and infection control policies.
  • Support the Neurodiagnostic team and report to the Practice Manager.
