Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse (T&RC) for Neurology on a full-time night shift. RNs diagnose and treat health problems using nursing methods, provide care, teaching and discharge planning.

Responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, developing care plans, administering medications, infection control and coordinating with the care team. Requirements: NY RN license, BSN preferred, acute care experience; ability to work night shifts.

Qualifications

• Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s condition and nursing needs; coordinate nursing care with other health disciplines.
• Develop an individualized care plan including teaching and discharge planning.
• Administer direct care and medications as needed by patients.
• Practice infection control and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the Charge RN/Clinician.
• Maintain and update the written plan of care and patient goals with patient/family.
