Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) for the Neuro ICR Stroke Unit on a full-time night shift. Responsibilities include assessing patients, coordinating care, creating discharge plans, administering medications, and maintaining infection control.

Preferred candidates hold a Bachelor's in Nursing with at least one year of acute hospital experience, and stroke/ICR experience is advantageous. Pre-employment steps and regulatory screenings must be completed.

Qualifications

• Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred with at least one year of hospital acute care experience.
• Experience caring for stroke patients and one year ICR experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and coordinate nursing care with other health disciplines.
• Develop written individualized care plans including discharge planning.
• Administer direct care and medications as needed.
• Maintain infection control and a safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to Charge RN/Clinician.
• Develop and update the plan of care and set patient/family goals.
• Record patient education and ensure alignment with physician instructions.
• Collaborate with staff and departments to improve nursing care.
