Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical Center is seeking an Ambulatory Practice Coordinator to join the Neurology clinic, a hospital-based outpatient practice where you’ll work with renowned Neurologists and deliver patient-centered care.

Under general supervision, you’ll handle scheduling, pre-authorization and administrative tasks, patient registration, and EMR documentation; schedule is Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 9am-5:30pm and Wed 8am-4:30pm.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Medicaid/HMOs insurance coverage.
• Strong verbal and written communication to staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Assists in coordinating patient care by scheduling appointments per physician schedules.
• Schedules outpatient tests and procedures as required.
• Handles patient registration and verifies demographics and insurance details.
• Obtains referrals and authorizations as needed.
• Documents information accurately in the EMR system.
• Prepares and coordinates outgoing referrals.
• Informs patients about charges, estimates, and policies when appropriate.
• Maintains patient privacy per HIPAA regulations.
