Job summary

Baylor College of Medicine in Houston seeks a motivated lab assistant to support genetics and molecular neuroscience research, including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and MeCP2 projects.

You will perform molecular biology techniques, maintain mouse colonies, collect and analyze data, document results, and assist with literature reviews under supervision. A Bachelor's degree and relevant experience are required; a Master's is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field; four years of related experience may substitute for degree.
  • One year of relevant laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in molecular biology techniques and experiments (RT-PCR, RNA/protein isolation, western blotting, cloning, immunofluorescence; biochemical assays).
  • Maintain mouse colonies, genotyping by PCR, behavior, breeding, dissections and perfusions.
  • Collect, compile and analyze data with postdoctoral associates.
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize information for experiments.
  • Document results in lab notebook.
  • Select, evaluate and apply techniques used in routine research.
  • Assist in day-to-day lab activities (buffers, reagents, supplies).
  • Train to passage and maintain iPSC cultures and differentiate neuron cultures.
