Advocate Health Care is seeking a Neurodiagnostic Technologist with expertise in EEG and related neurodiagnostic procedures. You will apply electrodes, prepare patients, calibrate equipment, monitor artifacts, and support intraoperative and ambulatory EEG testing as needed.

Requirements include a High School Graduate, 2 years in a Neurodiagnostic role, ABRET EEG tech registration within a year, and BLS within 6 months.

Responsabilités

• Performs and maintains competency in electroencephalograms, portable inpatient EEGs by applying suitable electrodes on predetermined positions on the patient's head, checking the performance of the electrodes, calibrating and adjusting the test apparatus and selecting both predetermined and special electrode combinations dependent on the individual case under study.
• Prepares patient for exam and performs exams and procedures. Gathers a comprehensive patient history, appropriate information from patient, patient's records and family members to include neurological symptomatology and medications. Explains test procedures to patient and family members.
• Performs procedures according to the laboratory standards and implements alternative methods and/or adjusts controls to obtain optimal recordings. This may include appropriate control setting changes on the equipment, use of extra electrodes, extra montages and use of activation procedures.
• Recognizes patient or environmental artifact. Documents, eliminates or takes proper measure to monitor the artifact.
• Devises and standardizes neurodiagnostic tests for clinic use.
• May perform Intraoperative Monitoring with supervision.
• May perform ambulatory EEG monitoring, EEG monitoring during intracarotid Sodium Amytal procedures (WADAS), Epilepsy Monitoring Units (EMUs), Evoke Potentials and other modalities of testing based on site specific needs.
• May assist physicians in outpatient department clinics with Nerve Conduction Studies and EMGs based on site specific needs
• Performs Cerebral Death Evaluation studies.
• May perform TCD (transcranial ultra sound of the Circle of Willis) based on site specific needs.
• Troubleshoots equipment problems and repairs or reports to supervisor immediately.
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
