Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program is required.
• Experience level: less than 1 year in a surgical setting is common for this role.
• Certification and licensure in accordance with NBSTSA or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Discuss special needs with the surgeon before surgery and scrub in on time.
• Prepare and aseptically clean operative site and clip the patient as needed.
• Maintain instrument tables in an organized way to prevent damage and ensure correct counts.
• Identify damaged trays and rectify discrepancies to prevent delays or injury.
• Set up the operating room per procedure schedules and arrange sterile supplies accordingly.
• Ensure proper functioning of instruments, equipment, and supplies during procedures.
• Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments per policy.
• Assist with draping, positioning, and passing sterile supplies to the team.
