Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Neuro ICU. This is a Full Time, Day Shift (12-hour shifts) position with hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and rotating weekends.

The PCT will provide patient care, monitor vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, and perform phlebotomy, EKG testing, phlebotomy, and specimen collection under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required with one of the listed certifications.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility, and ambulation.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and EKG testing.
• Remove peripheral IVs and Foley catheters as directed.
• Collect specimens and ensure accurate documentation.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Sentara Care Partner Certification Program

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)

National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)

Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School

Emergency Services certifications (EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic)

RN/LPN/RT/PT clinical program in progress

Recent PCT/Nursing Assistant experience
