Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Neuro Intermediate Care unit. This full-time, night-shift role offers three 12-hour nights from 7:00pm to 7:00am with rotating weekends.

The PCT will support patient care, monitor vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen collection under RN supervision. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and one of several approved certifications or programs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Sentara Care Partner Certification Program OR CNA OR NCMA OR NCPCT OR Navy Hospital Corps School OR EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic OR clinical program enrollment.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of health care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and support activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs and mobility/ambulation.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing and EKGs.
• Remove peripheral IVs and collect specimens.
• Assist with Foley catheter insertion/removal and safe patient handling.
