Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Medicine Unit. This full-time Day Shift (12-hour shifts) provides care, daily living assistance, vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG testing and specimen collection under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include monitoring patients with CHF, COPD, pneumonia, and other conditions, documenting status, and reporting changes promptly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility, and ambulation; assist with phlebotomy and specimen collection.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKG testing, and IV/ Foley related tasks under RN supervision.
• Observe and document patient status and report changes to nursing staff.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent

CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or equivalent Certification
