Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Cardiac Procedural and Surgical Unit. This full-time night shift role runs 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM with rotating weekends and holidays, and involves vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, EKGs, and specimen collection under RN supervision.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and appropriate healthcare credentials; BLS is preferred or required within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required; multiple credential options accepted.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred/within 90 days of hire.
• This role expects 1+ year health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility, ambulation, and specimen collection.
• Perform phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, and peripheral IV removal as directed by RN.
• Support with Foley catheter insertion/removal and other routine procedures; document observations timely.

National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)

US Navy Hospital Corps School

Emergency Services/EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic

Clinical program participation (RN/LPN/RT/PT)

Recent PCT/Nursing Assistant experience (last 3 years)
