Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina System Engineer II, Network will support MUSC’s academic, research and healthcare missions. You will evaluate complex issues, document processes, and help design, implement and operate network infrastructure.

The role requires strong communication, customer service, and knowledge of firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, VPNs, and monitoring tools; you will mentor peers and contribute to project teams.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and six years directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree and two years directly related experience required; or a Masters’ Degree in a related field.
• Four years of Network experience is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical, customer service and communication skills required.
• Experience in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, including: firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, controllers and monitoring applications.
• Knowledge of communication or information systems, voice and data networking operations.
• Knowledge and technical expertise in networking protocols, security, and wireless communications.

Responsibilities

• Supports network services, evaluates and resolves complex technical issues.
• Assists in generating documentation, communications, processes, and plans for network design, implementation and operations.
• Takes role in projects and meetings; provides input on solutions to improve efficiency.
• Transfers knowledge to peers and staff; maintains high professional standards and customer service.
