Job summary

UPMC is seeking a NOC Analyst Associate to join our 24x7x365 Network Operations Center in Pennsylvania. This on-site role includes 7PM–7AM shifts with a two-week cycle (84 hours, 4 hours OT).

You will monitor data and voice networks, perform initial troubleshooting, and escalate as needed, in a multi-vendor environment. Responsibilities include responding to alarms, providing Level 1 support for core networking gear, updating incident records, and coordinating with engineers and vendors.

Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of operational support for data networks and enterprise monitoring tools.
• Basic familiarity with logging into switches/routers and reviewing configurations.
• Familiarity with packet capture and analysis tools such as Wireshark or Riverbed.
• Working knowledge of OSI and TCP/IP models.
• Understanding of network protocols (TCP/UDP/SNMP/BGP/ISIS/EIGRP/OSPF).
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail under pressure.
• Ability to collaborate with peers, engineers, and partners.

UPMC is looking for a NOC (Network Operations Center) Analyst Associate to join their team. This role will be Fully on-site (WFH technology available for short -term or emergency needs. Will only be accepting candidates within the PA area since this role will be ON-SITE at our Freeport Datacenter.

The shift will be 7PM-7AM

Week 1 Thursday / Friday / Saturday

Week 2 Sunday / Thursday / Friday / Saturday

2 week period is 84 hours (4 hours OT)

Description

The NOC Analyst Associate provides first-line operational support in UPMC’s 24x7x365 Network Operations Center,monitoringenterprise data and voicenetworksand responding to alerts, outages, and performance issues. Working in a large, multi-vendor environment, the analyst uses enterprise monitoring and diagnostic tools toidentifyimpact, perform initial troubleshooting, document findings, communicate status, and elevate issues to senior NOC staff, engineering teams, carriers, and vendors when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor enterprise data and voice networks using StableNet, NokiaWaveSuite/NFM-P, Splunk, Palo Alto Panorama, and related tools.
• Respond to alarms, outages, and abnormal conditions; assess impact, perform initial troubleshooting, and restore service when possible.
• Provide Level 1 support for switches, routers, firewalls, WAN circuits, and related network infrastructure.
• Escalate incidents with clear technical findings and coordinate testing and repair with network engineers, telecom carriers, vendors, and internal teams.
• Communicatetimely,accurateupdates to technical and non-technical stakeholders while delivering strong customer service.
• Create andmaintainincident records, procedures, troubleshooting guides, network diagrams, and data center cabling/fiber documentation.
• Support network equipment installations, deployments, testing, and other operational projects as assigned.
• Protect confidential information, follow security and incident response standards, and participatein ongoing training and mentorship.

Required Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of operational support for data networks and enterprise monitoring tools.
• Basic experience with or exposure to logging into switches/routers and reviewing configurations.
• Familiarity with packet capture and analysis tools such as Wireshark or Riverbed.
• Working knowledge of OSI and TCP/IP models.
• Understanding of network protocols (TCP/UDP/SNMP/BGP/ISIS/EIGRP/OSPF).
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to remain focused under pressure.
• Effective collaboration skills and the ability to work with peers, engineers, and business partners.
• Familiarity with the operational support of data networks and network management tools through education or practical experience.
• Effective in relationships with business partners, professional peers, and other team members.
• Familiar with various sniffer products.
• Analytical skills and an understanding of Data Center networking.
• Understanding of the TCP/IP protocol (TCP and UDP).

Preferred Qualifications

• CCNA or equivalent vendor certification.
• Prior experience working in a NOC environment.
• Practical hands-on experience with enterprise network platforms.
• Experience logging into routers/switches.

Licensure / Compliance

• Act 34 Clearance required.
