Job summary

UPMC is seeking a NOC Analyst Associate to join our 24x7x365 Network Operations Center in Pennsylvania. This on-site role includes 7PM–7AM shifts with a two-week cycle (84 hours, 4 hours OT).

You will monitor data and voice networks, perform initial troubleshooting, and escalate as needed, in a multi-vendor environment. Responsibilities include responding to alarms, providing Level 1 support for core networking gear, updating incident records, and coordinating with engineers and vendors.

Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of operational support for data networks and enterprise monitoring tools.
• Basic familiarity with logging into switches/routers and reviewing configurations.
• Familiarity with packet capture and analysis tools such as Wireshark or Riverbed.
• Working knowledge of OSI and TCP/IP models.
• Understanding of network protocols (TCP/UDP/SNMP/BGP/ISIS/EIGRP/OSPF).
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail under pressure.
• Ability to collaborate with peers, engineers, and partners.

Responsibilities

• Monitor enterprise data and voice networks using listed tools.
• Respond to alarms, outages, and abnormal conditions; assess impact and troubleshoot.
• Provide Level 1 support for switches, routers, firewalls, WAN circuits.
• Escalate incidents with clear technical findings and coordinate with teams.
• Communicate timely updates to stakeholders and maintain service levels.
• Create and maintain incident records, diagrams, and cabling documentation.
• Support network equipment deployments, testing, and operational projects.
• Protect confidential information and participate in ongoing training.
