Job summary

Jsr Associates is seeking an Electrical Field Test Technician (NETA I–IV) to test, commission and maintain electrical power equipment across the upper Midwest. You will work on substations, industrial sites, and data centers, progressing from Level I to IV with mentoring and opportunities to lead.

The role demands hands-on testing with power factor, insulation resistance, and related tests, plus ensuring safety per NFPA 70E. Union benefits and relocation support may apply.

Qualifications

• NETA certification at any level (I–IV) or equivalent testing experience.
• Willingness to travel 50–75% across the upper Midwest.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Comfort reading one-lines, schematics and test procedures.

Responsibilities

• Test, inspect and maintain medium- and high-voltage switchgear, breakers, transformers, relays and cable.
• Operate high-voltage test equipment including power factor, insulation resistance, contact resistance, TTR and hipot tests.
• Commission new installations and verify readiness to energize.
• Support planned outages and respond to emergency calls as needed.
• Document results clearly and flag issues before failures.
• Follow NFPA 70E and site safety practices on every job.
• Level III–IV: lead jobsites, coordinate with customers, mentor apprentices and junior techs.

What you bring

• NETA certification at any level (I–IV), or relevant electrical testing or maintenance experience and a commitment to getting certified.
• Hands-on experience with power factor or High Voltage testing strongly preferred.
• Comfort reading one-lines, schematics and test procedures.
• Willingness to travel 50–75% across the upper Midwest.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• A safety-first mindset and the ability to work independently or as part of a crew.

Bonus points for: substation or utility experience, protective relay testing, commissioning experience on large projects, or prior military electrical/ET background.
