Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA III/IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV. The role requires up to 75% travel across regional/national projects and offers base pay up to $95/hour plus OT, bonuses, and strong benefits.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing, NETA certifications in good standing, and the ability to read electrical diagrams and coordinate protection schemes.

Qualifications

• NETA III/IV certification in good standing.
• 7+ years of electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments.
• Ability to read one-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers.
• Interpret and analyze test results; author engineering reports with recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor Level I/II technicians in the field; serve as technical lead on multi-discipline teams.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements.
