Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing to perform acceptance, commissioning and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500 kV. This position requires NETA Level III/IV certification and extensive HV test experience.

The role includes leading test activities, mentoring junior technicians, and ensuring compliance with safety standards while traveling regionally. Excellent compensation includes a base rate up to $110/hour, bonuses and benefits.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification current and in good standing.
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing experience in medium/high voltage environments.
• Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers.
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field.
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams.
