Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA III/IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV. You will lead tests, analyze results, and produce detailed engineering reports while mentoring junior technicians in a dynamic project environment.

The role requires 7+ years of hands-on HV testing, proficiency with standard test gear, and readiness to travel regionally; a power systems degree or NICET certification is

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification in good standing.
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing experience in medium/high voltage.
• Strong knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards.
• Proficient with test equipment listed (Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF).
• Ability to read one-line/three-line diagrams, schematics and P&IDs.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record; willingness to travel regionally up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, microprocessor).
• Test insulation resistance, power factor, and continuity on transformers, switchgear, cables, and breakers.
• Interpret results and write comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical failures under time-sensitive conditions.
• Mentor Level I/II technicians and serve as technical lead on projects.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS, NFPA 70E, OSHA safety requirements.
