Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV. You will lead tests, analyze results, and prepare technical reports for multi-discipline project teams.

The role requires NETA Level III/IV, 7+ years of HV testing experience, and readiness to travel up to 75%. Competitive compensation includes base up to $110/hour, a signing bonus, and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification in good standing is required.
• 7+ years hands-on electrical testing experience in medium/high voltage environments.
• Strong knowledge of NETA MTS/ATS standards.
• Proficiency with test equipment including Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF.
• Ability to read/interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Valid driver's license with clean record; willingness to travel regionally up to 75%.
• Experience with protective relay schemes and coordination.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers.
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field.
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements.
