Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV. You will analyze test data, generate detailed reports, and drive safety and quality in demanding environments.

The role requires a NETA Level III/IV certification and 7+ years of high voltage testing experience, with travel up to 75%. You will mentor technicians and lead project teams while upholding NFPA 70E and OSHA

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification (current and in good standing).
• 7+ years hands-on electrical testing experience in medium/high voltage environments.
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards.
• Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF and equivalents.
• Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel regionally (up to 75%).

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers.
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field.
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements.
