Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance tests on high-voltage power systems on regional projects across the United States. The role requires NETA Level III/IV certification, extensive testing experience, and hands-on expertise with test equipment.

Travel up to 75% is expected. The position offers competitive compensation up to $110/hour, with additional bonuses and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification current and in good standing.
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments.
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS/ATS standards.
• Proficient with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF, etc.
• Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination.
• Ability to read one-line, three-line diagrams, schematics and P&IDs.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Willingness to travel regionally up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, microprocessor).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and breakers.
• Interpret and report test results with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field.
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams.
• Ensure compliance with NETA MTS/ATS, NFPA 70E, OSHA.
