Job summary

Allina Health in Shakopee, MN is seeking a Medical Assistant for Nephrology with 8-hour shifts. The role supports providers and nursing staff, rooms patients, manages flow, and handles specimens and EMR documentation.

Requires completion of a Medical Assistant program and a minimum externship; BLS is preferred. Pay range is $22.04–$30.01 hourly; 40 hours/week; no weekends; 1.0 FTE; mileage reimbursement for travel within 20 miles of Shakopee.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required principle competencies as listed on the job description.
• Candidates must have completed a Medical Assistant program or a comparable healthcare education program with a similar scope of clinical training.
• Candidates with fewer than six (6) months of Medical Assistant experience must have completed a minimum of 160 hours of clinical externship or equivalent clinical practicum.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients, manages patient flow and obtains adequate patient medical information/data.
• Collects and confirms patient information via interview, questionnaires, vital signs and documents in EMR.
• Assists patients with preparation for physician exam and provides psycho-emotional support.
• Assists with collection, labeling, and processing of specimens.
• Facilitates obtaining lab/imaging results and communicates with RN or provider via EMR.
