Job summary

Allina Health is hiring a Medical Assistant in Shakopee, MN to support providers and nursing staff with rooming patients, patient flow and care delivery. You will assist with procedures, injections and communications with patients in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Shifts are 8 hours, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday-Wednesday and Friday, with Thursdays off. This is 0.8 FTE (64 hours per two-week pay period) and involves no weekend work, with mileage reimbursement eligibility for travel within a

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required principle competencies as listed on the job description
• Candidates must have completed a Medical Assistant program or a comparable healthcare education program with a similar scope of clinical training
• Candidates with fewer than six (6) months of Medical Assistant experience must have completed a minimum of 160 hours of clinical externship or equivalent clinical practicum

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients, manages patient flow and obtains adequate patient medical information/data.
• Collects and confirms patient information via interview, questionnaires, vital signs and documents in EMR according to standards.
• Assists patients to prepare for physician exam, including providing psycho-emotional support.
• Assists with collection, labeling, and processing of specimens.
• Coordinates results of tests and procedures with provider or RN.
• Performs injections and assists with procedures as delegated by Provider or RN.
• Maintains safety, reports environmental risks and malfunctions, and adheres to policies and proper techniques.
• Cleans, stocks, maintains inventory for exam, medication and supply rooms.
