Allina Health in Minnesota is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers and nursing staff in delivering timely patient care. Responsibilities include rooming patients, managing flow, taking vital signs, and assisting with injections and procedures.

Required training includes completing a Medical Assistant program with up to 160 hours of externship for those with limited experience; BLS certification is commonly required. This role offers a 1.0 FTE schedule with day shifts and no weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older with education and/or experience needed to meet required principle competencies as listed on the job description.
• Candidates must have completed a Medical Assistant program or a comparable healthcare education program with a similar scope of clinical training.
• Candidates with fewer than six (6) months of Medical Assistant experience must have completed a minimum of 160 hours of clinical externship or equivalent clinical practicum.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients, manages patient flow and obtains adequate patient medical information/data.
• Collects and confirms patient information via interview, questionnaires, vital signs and documents in EMR.
• Assists patients to prepare for physician exam and provides psycho-emotional support when needed.
• Assists with collection, labeling, and processing of specimens and lab/imaging coordination.
• Covers front desk and assists with patient registration/scheduling as needed.
• Performs injections and assists with procedures as delegated by Provider or RN.
• Reinforces patient information about tests, labs, and treatment plans.
