Job summary

NOVA Engineering is seeking an NCDOT Certified Technician in our Raleigh, NC office.

This inspector will help ensure public safety by traveling to construction sites to inspect the contractor’s work, and perform basic field soil, ABC stone, asphalt and/or concrete tests and inspections under the direction of other NOVA engineering professionals to verify the work is performed in accordance with NCDOT and project specifications.

Qualifications

• Experience performing field materials testing and inspections on civil projects.
• Familiarity with NCDOT specifications and site safety practices.
• Strong ability to document results accurately and timely.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing of soil, ABC stone, asphalt, concrete and steel as needed.
• Conduct plant inspections for asphalt and concrete when required.
• Prepare detailed field reports with test results and observations.
• Evaluate site and subgrade conditions and provide recommendations.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, engineers and staff about findings.
