Job summary

CTL Engineering, Inc. is seeking Inspectors and Technicians to join our construction inspection services for NCDOT transportation projects in the region.

This role blends field and laboratory work with office tasks, focusing on quality control and testing across roadway, bridge, and related infrastructure projects. You will perform earthwork, concrete, asphalt, and utility inspections, sample materials, and prepare reports while collaborating with engineers and clients.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing and inspection principles.
• Experience with materials testing.
• Experience with standard testing and observation methods.
• Understanding of construction or engineering services.
• Experience in performing quality control initiatives and performance testing.
• Skill in field reporting, writing reports and maintaining records
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in external environment conditions during difficult weather.
• Ability to provide status updates independently.
• Be quality-minded and client-focused.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection services for earthwork, concrete, asphalt and utility construction for NCDOT and clients.
• Conduct field testing on roadway/bridge projects.
• Inspect and report on concrete pours, rebar placement and pipe work.
• Inspect and sample construction materials.
• Compute and plot data; draw simple curves and graphs.
• Assist Engineers in soil and materials investigations.
• Ensure tests and observations meet project specs and contract documents.
• Perform field testing and observation of soils, concrete and asphalt.
• Verify plan quantities and calculations as bid plans.
• Prepare and maintain project records and reports.
• Notify Contractor or Project Engineer of non-conforming work.
