Job summary

The GBS Group seeks an experienced PLC Systems Engineer to support development, deployment, and maintenance of shipboard control systems for US Navy vessels. The role requires PLC programming in ladder logic and structured text, with experience on Rockwell/Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs.

Responsibilities include reviewing and redlining as-built drawings, coordinating with on-site and remote teams, and designing sensor/control circuitry for PLC-based systems. Domestic travel up to 15% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience with PLC-based control systems (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley preferred).
• Experience with US Navy ship systems is a plus.
• Proficient in Windows 10 and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to obtain DoD Secret Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Review legacy as-built ship drawings and provide redlines for control system development.
• Interpret and design sensor and control circuitry for PLC-based systems.
• Collaborate with planning yards, shipyards, and ship's force on design and installation.
• Participate in system testing in lab and on ships.
• Travel domestically up to 15% as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of engineering practices and Navy safety guidelines.
