Job summary

The GBS Group is seeking an Automation Systems Engineer to work on Naval ship platforms with a hybrid work arrangement. You will design and implement state-of-the-art machinery control systems, including control logic (structured text) and Linux configuration, for U.S.

Navy vessels and related platforms. You will troubleshoot, install, and train ship personnel, while supporting lifecycle operations and future HM&E machinery control initiatives for Navy, Coast Guard, Army, and Marine ships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or 5+ years experience with Linux, Ubuntu, PLCs, and Control Systems.
• Ability to obtain a secret clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
• Strong Linux experience (Red Hat and Ubuntu).
• Experience with scripting: Bash, Java, Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify control systems software and logic for U.S. Navy ships.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and interface with electrical and mechanical components.
• Onboard ships: assist and train ship personnel in operation and maintenance.
• Review legacy systems and drawings; propose upgrades.
• Interpret system requirements; design control and sensor circuitry.
• Use diagnostic tools and instruments; document systems.
• Collaborate with planning yards, shipyards, installation teams, and ships force.
