Job summary

The GBS Group is seeking a Navy-experienced electrical engineer to develop, deploy, and maintain machinery control systems tailored for US Navy ships. You will review and update as-built drawings and coordinate with local and remote team members, with occasional travel up to 35%.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, 2+ years with Navy ships and PLC-based control systems (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley). Security clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience with US Navy ship systems (e.g., Firemain, Propulsion, Electric Plant, Ventilation, Ballast).
  • At least 2 years of experience with PLC-based control systems (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley preferred).
  • Proficiency with Windows 10 and Microsoft Office; Linux knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Responsibilities

  • Work well in a team or independently.
  • Review legacy as-built ship drawings and provide redlines for control system development.
  • Interpret and design sensor/control circuitry for PLC-based systems.
  • Participate in system testing in lab and shipboard environments.
  • Coordinate design and installation efforts with planning yards, shipyards, and ship’s force.
  • Maintain current knowledge of engineering practices and ship safety guidelines.
  • Anticipate travel up to 35% of the year.
