Job summary

STO Building Group is seeking a Senior Superintendent to oversee daily job-site operations across projects nationwide. You will handle scheduling, procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment, and supervise direct labor on site while coordinating with subcontractors and clients to deliver projects on time and to specification.

Responsibilities include developing look-ahead schedules, mobilization planning, and enforcing safety and quality standards across multi-site environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years of experience with large-scale, ground-up commercial construction projects; light industrial experience preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes in GC environment.
• Has a valid driver's license and is able to travel to and from the project site.
• Understands and applies building codes and other design requirements correctly and reads blueprints accurately.
• Has good understanding and knowledge of subcontractors' scopes of work and tolerances.
• Has good written and verbal communication skills.
• Has good administrative skills: monitors the progress and coordination of work activities; keeps other members of the organization informed of progress and problems.
• Has good management skills: establishes techniques to effectively and proactively monitor and supervise the work of subordinates and to follow up on the results of delegated assignments.
• Maintains integrity and professionalism; basic Spanish preferred.
• Has the ability to operate office equipment and use spreadsheets/word processing.

Responsibilities

• Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction based on schedules and staffing requirements.
• Interacts with the Project Manager to determine the project schedule and look-ahead milestones.
• Coordinates pre-construction meetings with Project Manager prior to mobilization.
• Directs procurement of tools and materials to conform to work schedules.
• Keeps all parties informed of construction issues and progress; coordinates with supervisors, subs, and clients.
• Works with supervisory and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances.
• Confers with engineering personnel and inspectors to resolve construction problems and improve methods.
• Inspects work in progress to ensure conformance to specifications and schedules.
• Manages the project based on progress reports, materials used, and costs; adjusts schedules accordingly.
• Moves personnel between projects to manage labor costs and staffing; may terminate underperforming crew members.
• Prepares the Project Management Plan in conjunction with the Project Manager.
• Ensures safety, equality, and quality policies are implemented consistently; maintains housekeeping standards.
