Job summary

Friends of the Children seeks a National Director of Operations & Quality Assurance to lead strategic and operational practices for the national network. Based in Portland, OR, the role oversees network quality assurance, enterprise reporting, operations support, contracts, risk, and HR collaboration.

The position emphasizes turning data into actionable insights, refining chapter health dashboards, and leading cross-functional change to strengthen program impact across the network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, public administration, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive operational leadership experience.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing scalable systems, processes, and operational infrastructure.
• Strong experience with operational reporting, data analytics, and performance measurement, including executive-level reporting and dashboards.
• Broad business acumen and the ability to learn quickly, work across functions, and navigate a wide range of operational responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead redesign and implementation of the Network’s chapter monitoring process, including quality assurance and grant documentation.
• Monitor compliance with National standards, chapter agreements, organizational policies, and grant requirements.
• Identify risks and coordinate corrective actions with National and chapter leaders.
• Develop and execute chapter subawards, related documentation, monitoring, and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate insurance administration, business continuity, emergency preparedness, workplace safety, and related risk-management activities.
• Lead operational procurement and vendor management processes, monitor service delivery, contract compliance, cost, and quality.
