Job summary

Friends of the Children in Portland, OR is seeking its first National Director of Operations & Quality Assurance to provide strategic and operational leadership for the network. The role reports to the CFO, oversees quality assurance, analytics, and administrative best practices, and drives risk management and organizational performance across locations.

The position is full-time and hybrid, requiring a minimum of three onsite days per week at the National Center of Excellence in Portland.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, public administration, or a related field.
• At least seven years of progressive operational leadership experience.
• Experience developing scalable systems, operational reporting, data analytics, financial management, process improvement, and organizational change.
• Strong leadership, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in nonprofit, grant-funded, or multi-site organizations; federal grant compliance; facilities management; and operational excellence certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of operational systems, processes, and standards across Friends of the Children network.
• Oversee chapter quality assurance, grant compliance, monitoring, and corrective actions.
• Manage operational reporting, performance dashboards, and analytics to identify risks and support data-driven decisions.
• Drive process improvements, organizational change, and collaboration with executive leadership.
• Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, procurement, and facilities management.
• Ensure cost-effective operations and organizational excellence.
