Farnsworth Art Museum is seeking a part-time Security Guard to protect artworks, ensure public safety, and maintain orderly operations on campus and in buildings.

The role emphasizes strong customer service and clear communication with guests, staff, and volunteers. Responsibilities include patrols, incident reporting, and supporting event security while complying with procedures and safety plans.

Qualifications

• Experience in security or safety roles is preferred.
• Able to communicate effectively with visitors and staff.
• Ability to observe, assess, and report security situations accurately.

Responsibilities

• Continually patrol the museum galleries and campus properties, protecting the building and its contents from losses or vandalism.
• Watch for and report irregularities, such as fire hazards or unsecured doors.
• Inform and assist visitors with museum guidelines and access questions.
• Respond to alarms and notify appropriate personnel.
• Cooperate with police, fire and other agencies as needed.
• Prepare incident reports when necessary.
• Assist with special event assignments.
• Maintain a professional demeanor with visitors and staff.
• Review safety procedures and disaster plans as directed.
