Job summary

The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, is seeking Security Officers to join their team to protect the Museum’s collections and create an inclusive visitor experience where all visitors are welcome.

This weekend part-time role requires patrols, crowd management, incident reporting, and keeping the Command Center informed while upholding security protocols. Starting wage is $21.65 per hour with two weekend schedules and benefits.`

Qualifications

• Must have strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work outside of the regular schedule to support special Museum programming and other security coverage needs.
• Physical stamina for extended walking and standing across multiple floors, stairs, and varying climate conditions.
• Qualified applicants will possess basic computer user skills and have some familiarity with security equipment.
• Multilingual skills and Security experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service to visitors, staff and volunteers throughout the Museum.
• Perform routine patrols of galleries, exterior doors, laboratories, secure areas, and other museum facilities.
• Assist with crowd control management during highly attended exhibitions and events.
• Maintain regular communication with the Command Center, report any security concerns, safety hazards, or unusual incidents, and ensure compliance with security protocols.
• Exhibit keen observational abilities to identify potential security risks and demonstrate sound judgment in resolving conflicts.
